Why Serve on the Consuelo’s Place Board of Directors?

We welcome leaders from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to caring for Santa Fe’s unhoused community members.

Who We Are We Looking For?

As a board member, you can:

  • Contribute to long-term sustainability through fundraising, donor engagement, and strategic planning.

  • Build visibility and connections as an ambassador for Consuelo’s Place throughout the community.

  • Share your expertise in areas that matter for Consuelo’s Place growth, operations, and impact.

Committment of Service

Typically board service involves approximately 2-6 hours per month, including monthly board meetings and committee participation.

Board Role Focus Areas

To support our growth and development, we are focused on 4 key areas

Real Estate & Property Development

We are seeking a leader(s) with a strong real estate and/or property development background to help us find our next home.

Our current location has been a wonderful home since our inception, but we need to relocate. We are currently looking for board members with expertise in purchasing a new building or acquiring land to build a new facility.

Your expertise would be crucial in shaping our future and ensuring we maximize our impact by securing the best location and facility.

Human Resources & Adminstration

We are looking to strengthen our Board of Directors by adding a leader with expertise in human resources, change management, and talent development.

As our organization grows, we need strategic guidance in areas such as staff recruitment and retention, compensation strategy, performance management, and organizational culture.

Our board members play a key role in supporting our Executive Director and ensuring our organization is a great place to work.

Philanthropy & Outreach

We are seeking leaders who can help us expand our outreach, amplify our voice, and guide fundraising efforts. Your leadership will play a key role in ensuring Consuelo’s long-term sustainability through thoughtful community engagement and resource development.

Consuelo’s is entering an exciting phase of growth – emerging from six (6) years of fiscal sponsorship to being an independent 501(c)3 organization. In addition to growing and diversifying our operating income, we also will need to have a capital campaign to support moving to a new location.

Accounting & Finance

Consuelo’s Place is transitioning from a fiscal sponsorship to an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We provide vital shelter for our unhoused community members, and to ensure our sustainable growth, we are expanding our Board of Directors.

Given your strong background, we would love to invite you to join us as a Treasurer or Finance Committee member. In this role, you will help oversee our annual budget, guide our financial strategy, and elevate our operations from simple compliance to long-term financial modeling.
